Andy's been recruiting tech executives for 25 years.  Built a massive exec search firm in California, ported the learnings of his favorite companies into the firm, built a machine-like approach to filling exec searches.  Drove sales-like metrics, funnel measurement, conversion ratios, pushing an "up or out" culture of accountability (which wasn't always popular...), etc.  Got bored running a big services biz, stopped learning, sold it to his partners, and took the next 2 years "becoming a client." Went into Venture Partner/Mentor roles for Redpoint and Index Ventures, with a simple mission--to help entrepreneurs succeed. Sitting on their side of the table re-ignited his love of these brave souls.  He worked with more than 100 startups at a highly strategic level, building out Board/leadership teams, getting involved in M&A, financings, biz dev/corp dev, etc. Invested in Snowflake, MuleSoft (IPO), ForeScout (IPO), DocuSign (IPO), Ripple, Docker, Ninth Decimal, Brandless, and a number of others, tripled the size of his network, etc.  An incredible, career and life-altering experience.  But the itch to hunt great people, and build really important companies, create jobs, etc., all came back strongly, so he set out to design and build a truly world class experience for clients in building a new kind of search firm, and Artisanal Talent Group was born. Taking the learnings from having built a very big firm, and being a customer of more than 100 exec searches, we think, was a pretty good back drop…

Andy's hired about a thousand exec's in tech and is easily one of the best connected exec recruiters in the business.  He specializes in b2b Board/CEO/COO/CRO/CMO searches.  In his spare time, he’s a psychotic cyclist, below average surfer and sailor, diver, back country skier, custom motorcycle designer, climber, global citizen, philanthropist, etc. But his very favorite pastime is spending time with his 3 kids, his wife Sara and their dog, Mr. Biggs.  They’re a Facebook-free household who don’t watch a lot of TV…

Chris co-leads our Product and Engineering Leaders Practice, and is one of the most highly sought-after search consultants in the field for these critical roles.

His story is interesting and unexpected.  In 2011, he was visiting friends and family in the Bay Area to watch the "Big Game" when he met Kevin Barry and Andy Price at SPMB. He left that vacation with a job offer from Andy to join his team as an analyst, and the rest is history. Fast forward to the beginning of 2018, when the opportunity arose to build a brand new type of search firm and partner with Andy and Dalton again, it was like he was back on the same vacation six years ago.

Chris spent 6 years at SPMB, quickly rising from Analyst to Partner and established his own brand in the market for delivering high quality Product and Engineering search work for tier-1, high profile, VC backed and public companies. Over the past few years, Chris has completed Product and Engineering searches for ServiceNow, DocuSign, Databricks, Mulesoft, Looker, Cohesity, Figma, GitLab, Rubrik, Splunk, AlienVault, Corelight, Tigera, HelloSign, etc.

As a former Division-I baseball player at Villanova University (MBA) and James Madison University (BA), Chris is constantly thinking about how he can deliver high quality results quickly, and knows he can never lose focus if he wants to win.  He's fiercely competitive. Whether on a search, in the community or in his personal life, he's driven and inspired by the people that surround him. Outside of closing searches and meeting executives, you will find him gallivanting around the beautiful Bay Area with his amazing bride, Lana, and their son, Jaxon.

Dalton leads our GTM practice and is one of the most well connected exec recruiters in the business.

Dalton, a Colorado native and extreme athlete grew up skiing, riding dirt bikes, playing ice hockey. The drive, determination and self discipline required to excel at extreme sports served him well as he started his career in Sales at Oracle. Although, quickly climbing the ranks as a top performer, it became apparent that the sluggish, bureaucratic culture wasn't cutting it. He wanted more. More innovation, agility, faster pace, high risk, high reward. Startup culture was beckoning. Andy Price recruited him to join SPMB while he was a rising star, to inject more sales blood into the company and build the GTM practice. Over 4 years at SPMB he executed more than 60 executive searches for some of the biggest names in the valley- ServiceNow, Hashicorp, Docusign, Mulesoft, Forescout to name a few. Dalton specializes in b2b GTM projects (marketing, sales, biz dev and customer success) both at the VP and C-level.

At his core, he's fueled by competition and will run through walls to deliver the highest quality product. He's established his own brand in the market as being an "execution machine" and is maniacal about delighting his clients and creating wealth for them. In his spare time, put simply, he's an adrenaline junkie. Always trying to go fast(er), push the limit, or travel the world in seek of a thrill. Other times he can be found working on his golf game.

Alex Zakupowsky leads Engineering and Product searches at the firm.  Alex grew up outside Washington, DC, where he was a competitive athlete and fascinated by the high-stakes, high intensity, 24/7 mindset of politics. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he started his career on Capitol Hill working for the House Budget Committee, and was later recruited to the most competitive political stage--the 2012 Presidential race.

After the race, Alex entered the business world and started his executive search career in Washington, DC working with high-profile clients such as Under Armour and the Cleveland Clinic who were looking for top technology talent to lead digital transformations. He was determined to be a part of the Silicon Valley tech scene so he moved west and joined Lonergan Partners, a well respected technology boutique search firm.  He was quickly promoted to Partner, where he built and led the SaaS & Cloud practice for the firm’s top enterprise clients.

Alex joined Artisanal because he believes in the mission to build an innovative, ultra-high touch approach to executive search. Given his love of a good challenge, he decided to go all-in on the hardest projects around--Engineering and Product.  Alex is audacious about the talent he targets and is obsessive about delighting his clients.

Brandon comes to the Bay Area by way of Maryland, right outside of D.C. His competitive nature led him to a Division-I Track and Field scholarship at La Salle University, where he excelled athletically as well as academically, studying Integrated Science, Business, and Technology with a minor in Marketing. His science expertise led him to technical recruiting straight out of college. After years on the East Coast, Brandon ventured out to California, where he quickly rose through the ranks at SPMB. Working closely with Chris Johnson, Brandon helped build out the firm’s Product and Engineering practice while also working on high profile searches including Cohesity, Corelight, DroneDeploy, Chef, and HelloSign. Brandon now utilizes his recruiting experience and strong technical background at Artisanal Talent as a Senior Associate. When he isn’t exploring his new home state, Brandon is playing sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Andrew graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Geography/Environmental Studies and a minor in Geospatial Information Systems and Technology. Andrew started his career at BlueSky PSG, a boutique recruiting firm out of Manhattan Beach. Ilona loves to explore -- whether it’s a new country, a new sport, or a new food. Growing up in the Silicon Valley, she was always inspired by the progress and innovation fostered here. Her hunger to learn led her to UCLA, where she devoted her time to health-based non-profit work. Her Anthropology degree informed her volunteering and travels, and allowed her to learn from the people she was helping. Moving back to the Bay Area brought an exciting opportunity to work with Robert Half, which sparked her interest in building up companies through staffing. Ilona’s newest big adventure is bringing her drive and diverse background to Artisanal Talent. She is excited to grow from the dynamic team at this unique firm. In her free time, you’ll find her outdoors, working with her students, or wearing out her passport.

Lindsey grew up by the Florida beaches and studied Marketing and Sales at The Florida State University. After college, she was recruited by a Fortune 15 company in the healthcare industry and took her talents to Chicago. She made the big move to the Bay Area a few years ago and hasn’t looked back since. Lindsey is joining the GTM practice under Artisanal Talent. She loves making connections and sharing her network with others. She is tenacious and determined to find the best candidates for her clients. In her free time she enjoys training Muay Thai and hot pilates, traveling the world, and attending concerts with friends.

Keifer was born and raised in Colorado, and made the move to San Francisco summer of 2018. His deeply competitive nature was instilled in him at a young age, being the second youngest of five siblings. He’s drawn to extreme sports including dirt biking, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, and surfing (just a little more extreme than Dalton). Keifer is an Associate working with Alex Zakupowsky who leads Artisanal’s Engineering Practice. He enjoys connecting with engineering leaders, and finding top tier talent for Artisanal’s incredible clients.

Growing up in the Silicon Valley put Chris right into the belly of the beast. He saw from a very young age the impact that technology and great ideas had on the world. With a VC as a father, Chris was entrenched in the startup and funding world. Three older siblings made Chris learn, early on, how to fight for what he wanted. He grew up playing soccer, football, basketball, and running track but has always been more interested in action sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, and kiteboarding. He has always strived to better himself and those around him. After graduating from Santa Clara University with a degree in Economics, Chris utilized his network to become introduced to Andy Price and Artisanal Talent Group. After his first meeting, he was set on becoming a part of the team. He got his wish and is excited to do great things with great people. When he isn’t at work, you can find Chris seeking thrills, hanging out with friends and family, or exploring the world and what it has to offer.
